Blu-Ray has won over 4 of the Big Six. Whilst HD-DVD Has merely 2.

If Blu-Ray sucked that much, i doubt it could've won over so many. If Blu-Ray wins all the Big Six, then it means that the sale for XBox 360's would drop dramatically, why? Because people also use their Console's to watch films on instead of buying a seperate Device.

Also, Jay. The XBox 360, and the PS3, BOTH rely on their respective Hi-Def Formats, HD-DVD & Blu-Ray. So i think it has something to do with it.

The 360 can get a HD DVD Upgrade, and only a HD DVD Upgrade, not Blu-Ray..

Meaning that if the HD DVD Goes out entirely, there's going to very few Hi-Def games for the XBox 360, as they're too large to fit nicely on a small 9 Gig Dual-Layer DVD, and few to no Hi-Def Films.

Spoiler: all games for the 360 are DVD, and they cannot be played on the HD-DVD drive. You have never owned a 360.
Also new console in 2 years, then hi-def will come.

The 360 is open to any format, that's why Microsoft chose not to adopt an actual format into the system, instead they opted for the add on.

I'd say they played it safe, since the battle could have gone either way. If Microsoft adopted an internal HD DVD drive, then the format war would have ended sooner. However the costs of putting it out in 2005?, would have been way to expensive to attract consumers.

And yeah, the HD DVD add on was made specifically for movies. When the 360 came out the original DVD9 was barely even filled with content, so that can justify sticking to the tried and true format.

Hi Definition games do not require a High Definiton format of Media, I.E HD-DVD or Blu-ray.

Also, no-one really buys Blu-Ray. Only one guy I know has a PS3 and the only Blu-ray films he has are the free ones he got with the PS3. DVD's are just fine as they are and no-one is going to want to pay MORE for the quality improvement. DVD's are enjoyable.

I don't get what this whole Hi-Def format war is about, HD-DVD was never going to "win" because Sony, the media giant it is, supports Blu-ray.

HD Disc formats aren't big business at the moment, Xbox 360 plays all it's games in DVD format and so far the load times appear to be shorter.
