Return to Landernau

Postby [FGS]ShadowRunner » Wed Mar 26, 08 2:46 am

MM authorized us to edit and finish his Landernau 2.

When tested on a server, his day/night lighting system appeared to be lagging the server badly, perhaps we hadn't set it right or something else unknown. We decided to produce 2 versions of the map for the DXWW story, one daytime, one nighttime.

Here is a beta of the nightime map.

http://gravity-world.com/phpBB2/viewtop ... =5525#5525

It's up on FGS server with a couple of other DXWW maps.

When all comments and feedback come in, the Landernau map will be rebuilt almost, we are not happy with texturing, brushwork and the beta does not yet contain all DXMP elements, such as bots, enough tooling, cabinets etc...

But this beta gives an idea of the intended layout and architecture.

No.

But I've meaning to catch up with you and talk about WW2 and also the other maps we added weps to, and maps that perhaps I should add them to, also the CS mod looks great, I just want to get this right so players arent downloading too much stuff per map etc... The gauss gun had to go on orbital, 30mb download with map and tnag was too much in normal server.

I guess I can add some ww2 weps to this map though, its not too large...

It's been a while, were the ww2 weps separate? And can any of the CS weps be separate?

WW2 weps aren't separate, and yeh I can make the CS weps separate, though it's like 13 mb for 7 weapons. :P

13's ok with the right maps...

the WW2 mod is like 60-70 mb?

The problem is, especially at the moment, there are players on the server whose English is not great and explaining even teamswitching is almost impossible etc...

If there is a 60-70mb server package download and then u might not even play the Landernau map or WW2 maps, cos another is winning the vote, then I will get it in the neck from people like I did on Factory.

you'll see where I'm coming too in the next topic I post...

Just one thing I noticed in Return to Landerneau:
Near one of the spawns, on one of the buildings, the subtract brush for a blown-up corner isn't quite in place, and the very point of the corner is still there.

Thanks Baleout, that is the result of taking a six month break on the map and missing those brushes at 6am in the morning...there are several brushes in that area out of place, the medbox etc...

Its a good map, but... The map looks so crammy and squashed together, couldn't you not make more open spaces?
