Some games I admire the storyline, no long avoiding the elephant in the room, Deus Ex has a great one and for me is half the game - Max Payne's constant monologue of what's happening right in front of him is something I can live without.

The monologue is cheesy and laughable in the first, and in the second its just desperate.

i second that. the way the story is brought to the reader is different in a good way. I mean i stopped reading comics when i was 10 maybe, and had no desire what so ever to pick one up, but max payne was instantly cool reading. ill be damned if those arent some of the very best lines ive seen in any game.

Retro isn't a cool thing Allan, I'm not joking, no one gives a shit about you buying Contra 1 for the NES or other games older than you or some shit because there's always going to be newer games like Contra 3 and 4 which are better and improved, especially in the case of Contra 4 which takes the weapons directly from the first game.
