Gaming Rig

Aside from probably one Dell desktop I have grown up with laptops. While they are decent with games they tend to overheat a lot and I know that I am missing out on big things like playing at a steady frame rate on decent graphics settings and not having to sit with long loading screens and freezes. So I am deciding to get a desktop. But manufactured computers apparently aren't up to par with "game rigs" which we have to build ourselves. So since you all are probably good at all this, mind helping me get started so I can get the best out of gaming on my pc and spend more time being amazed rather than underwhelmed?

By the way my spects for my Studio XPS is:

Intel Core i7 CPU T9800 @ 3 GHz
6 GB RAM
64 Bit Operating System

yet it still has trouble with running games and....man, laptops are just for quick things to do on the plane or in the car. I need a desktop

Well I have been with desktop PCs all of my life, and for the past few weeks I've started using a laptop, and for gaming purposes I prefer my laptop wierdly. It does help that my deskrop PCs were absolutley awful though

Your pc specs seem great. I would recommend buying a 650watt or 750watt power supply (if you don't have one), and buy a high end graphics card.

I guess performance wise I would need something better than a AMD Radeon 4670 but no matter what every game stutters and the laptop feels hot so I have to keep restarting every 10 minutes. I tried to get the support guys to fix it but it just keeps overheating. Thanks for the tips though, I should consider that.

I wouldn't really advise gaming on laptops. You COULD do that, but it's quite expensive considering you can't upgrade most of the parts, etc. Not to mention that the processor on a laptop usually bottlenecks the mobile graphics card.

Thanks Aidan but I reckon the DIY Assembling a computer might be best for me because I don't have to worry about laptop limitations and I get +1 XP of independence by building my own PC

Yes, that's what I was taking about lol. I was trying to steer you away from buying a gaming laptop, as it seems you are using one at the moment.

Being that you are now interested in building your own rig (as seen in other posts), there is no issue lol.
