Half Life offered story substance to linear shooters, it was as innovative as the original System Shock while still being a simple FPS game.

Team Fortress is Quake's best modification and TF2 is one of the funniest FPS games if not known for it's imbalances, enough said. Valve scored buying these guys.

Counter Strike while controversially known for how absurd many things about each version are was an important part of progression for FPS gaming, such design choices led to Battlefield 2's innovation with the weapon loadout which will be known to retards as "Call of duty weapon selection!!!". I hope BF2's system comes into the hopefully 'casualised' (e.g; not a piece of shit hit detections and unvaried combat) Counter Strike 2. The team at Turtle Rock later created...
Both Left 4 Dead games individually sold more than Valve's current swan song, The Orange Box.

Another mod team they bought out was the people who make Portal, Portal is one of the best games I've ever played even if a little easy it sure has a nice premise for their sequel which offers supposedly hard co-op.

The only Valve game I hate is pre-Orange Box Source engine overhaul of Half Life 2, most disappointing game ever. The episodes are however fantastic and quite possibly my favourite story driven simple FPS game.
Despite my hate of the series, Valve will make DoTA 2 the best in the series because HoN is shit and LoL are very amateurish. Valve have never had a bad game from acquired talents from amateur studios.

UT3 sux btw. Epic Megagames openly wishes it can make good games again like others can do with their engines. Thankfully Epic are once again taking the route of Valve and making official dedicated servers avaliable for Xbox Live because they're both good companies. Doesn't stop you from being a closed opinionated swine

Also more people play Valve games competitively than all Unreal and GoW games combined. You know nothing about competitive gaming.

Oh, and Blizzard don't own DoTA. Why don't iD games own Team Fortress!!!!!! I'm sure Blizzard will see possible cash and create a 4th series of DoTA style RTS games similar to id's answer to TF, Enemy Territory.

No, Starcraft is nothing like DoTA. For one, SC is an RTS and I'm adamant that any DoTA doesn't belong to the genre.
