[Server] DXAlpha Classic UP3

Hey everyone,

As of today, "DXAlpha Classic UP3" server is up! I've been mucking about on my VPS for a few days, and have it going. The server is located in central USA I believe, so it may be laggy for most of you here (if you ever do) play in it

I was originally going to host a variety of alpha/funline maps; but thought it would be better to host a 'one RPG map only that restarts every 3 hours' server. Henceforth I've chosen UP3 to be the star map.

UP3 is and has always been a fun map to play with a lot of people. Granted most of us won't enjoy it much as we did then; but I think that is because we're all a lot older now.

I find that there is no point in hosting a server if nobody plays in it. One map that everyone loves to play in, is UP3.

Yep. It's Unlimited Party 3 24/7. Map restarts every 3 hours to clean up the shit that players like to throw everywhere.

Glad to see people are enjoying the server. Had about 8 people on yesterday.

Can remember Alex making a code to remove items from the pool cause everyone did that <:

I was doing something very similar, hosting LHKIP-4 with 2 augs + Infinite bio energy + 1 aug per kill.
(so killing is necessary.. no more 'NO KILL PLS ;_;')

THAT was obviously Alpha-style.. I had lots of fun in those days.. anyhow the server I was just talking about has vanished though..

It's running MTL.

Yeah, thanks for reminding me. I remember that code a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong while back haha. Could reduce latency by quite a bit (depending on how much shit is in the pool).

Awesome server!

We were playing a Goverment vs. Rebels role playing game today, gov was one guy who hold the bunker (Weapon Shop) and rebels had the prison taken and barricaded (main door blocked by boxes, sofas and tables), rebels goal was to sent several attacks until the shop was taken. Both factions agreed that the "no kill" players should be chased. After sometime the server reached the 12 players mark and we were having a good time, unfortunately it crashed.

It was a pretty cool game, made us remember why we spent hours playing Deus Ex in the past. It lasted hours today.

I'd like to set up a script somehow to boot the server back up if it crashes. With my server specs, it shouldn't crash :/

I have distinct memories of throwing a bin into the pool or something like that. I also remember being annoyed to no end by someone attacking me with a DTS when all I wanted to do was play shopkeeper. Fun times. Hope you still have this up in September

Hey Aidan, I played in the server a few times, and there is a issue somewhere with how the server has been set up in my opinion. I glide horribly at times, and it seems to skip if you understand what I mean. Althought I get 230 ping there it's a stable ping, so I doubt it's down to that, as I have played in servers with higher ping, and it doesn't glide or skip as bad as this.
