not really unless u decide to let them control your mind. what dae might have meant is who influences you toward a choice or choices that YOU make in your gameplay.

I wouldnt quite say that mantra did make a few maps that never got released. They had more geomerty then you could know what to do with.

HAHA, please. Mantra just did something really fancy, then put a few brushes round it.

I have to say I agree with him Grayfox. Having opened up Mantra's map and been pleasantly surprised with his numerous overlapping brushes.

rofl, everytime i overlap brushes, and try to re-build, UEd crashes

sucks to be ME!!!!

*maybe because i subtracted a cube brush about 90 times in the same 1 metre space... to give the effect of "un-even terrain" lmao *

hito - for his amasing scores and had the ability to start off without ballistic protection or aggresive defense system and still own =D.

Messiah - as a newb i would follow him and watch him play. i was cloaked and was watching him get raped by hito, melkor, zigzag, and someone else i forgot like arthur or artemis.. and he killed them all.

Artemis - his sniper and his 1337 headshots.

Slayerofsouls - for teaching me everything i know about surviving any type of fight.

Never really had any idols except for JohnnyBravo. After I got recruited to [TCN] when I had played DXMP for a month, his cool looking speed cloak LAM style was just incredible in my opinion. As being a tanker at the time, he seemed to be unbeatable. Anyway, after I discovered how to use speed myself (Jan 2002) and started to have some troubles with the guy, he started to lose the "spot". And the 1v1 with him just crashed it all so...other than that, I haven't had any idols, only guys who I think can provide me some damn good fights.

AMIGO and Messiah.

Notice how my prime style was a mix of both players' techniques.

Well, that was when I got cable.

Before that.... from beginning to end:

CoolHand
[DMI]ADOYS/VirtualBullsae/Mono/Merlin...(let's just say all of them)
[DEA]Slicer/TM/Andrew
[DEA]Monte <-- amazing in his day

Anyone else remember GEPGunUpTheBum?

[S]Beast, [tRauMa] and Jadesfire<-- (Did this guy have any other names? He just disappeared one day...)

PS: [CYD]Wraith - first to teach me about augs and knives...

I played in Beast's time... but I never saw him play. Saw people refer to him playing...

And for the people who don't know:

[tRauMa] = [DEA]Monte

He was mad good. Used centerview, though.

I used to see Beast a fair bit, he seemed awesome at the time. I was later told by someone though that he only ever used 3 augs.. not sure if that's true.

I didn't take this screenshot, I pulled it off some site a while ago:

It isn't really my idol, and he isn't known by any of you.
His name is Fireburn, the guy who caused I started playing Deus Ex :) My first FPS.

When I first started the game, it was primarily Tiger (I think Mahou now? Need confirming o_O). She pretty much showed me the game and her clan was pretty cool. But as soon as I saw Messiah (and DBL later) with the [3] tag my whole perspective of DX was changed. I can't really say anyone surpassed messiah's skill level, at his prime he was most certainly the best. Although thats not to say I didn't see plenty of other great players along the way, Monkee, Dbl, Khomeini, Paladin, and Arthur being the most noteworthy.

I tried to get her to join DMI long before I got to know her. She was really good friends with Andrew from DEA. I've seen her on AIM recently but haven't talked to her.
