If you want Augs to grow again, you need to set up a server that can handle 20+ players. Noobs love populated servers because they will always be able to get a lucky kill. The only reason people play in the GODZ server, despite its obviously shitty maps, shitty adminning, shitty gameplay, shitty weapon placement, and shitty ping, is because it holds a maximum of 20 players...which means that the server empties more slowly...which means that when people look at the list of available servers, they say "Ooh, I see a server which doesn't have only one person in it; I'll go there because it's populated and I can blend in."
Then they discover that they can get easy kills because of all the noob weapons. They think getting 10 kills is awesome, but they don't realize they've been killed 30 times. Wow! 10 frags! 1 4/\/\ t3h r0xx0rz!!
DX, and other games, need a better scoring model. Frags alone don't say who "won" a map. The net frags and kill/death ratio are far better indicators of who has skill. If you kill 20 people and die 20 times, you've done absolutely nothing to help or hurt your team (from a purely scoring perspective... that player could have saved the life of a more skilled teammate, enabling that player to continue to be streaked, which is an indirect positive influence which wouldn't be reflected in the net score). However, a player who goes 20-10 is twice as productive as a different player with the same 2:1 kills:death ratio who went 10-5.
