Ok the DX community now has a new problem, one which hasn't been helped at all by anyone in the community with the power, infact, some of those with power have made this matter worse.

When Lionheart turned up with his hacks, that was one thing, on NPF as well as other forums he immedietely got abuse, except, after the abuse he stopped, he even said he wouldnt spread it.

Now its like this, America during the 1940's came up with nuclear weapons, before the Russians had even dreamed it possible, until, shortly after the Russians made their own.

Whats with the history lesson? Well, Lionheart made or crafted the aimbot/h4x whatever, except he was the first person to really demonstrate it, not only that, but he didnt intentionally give it to other people. The point is, like Russia, other people crafted their own, because of the concept, they didnt steal someone elses, they said "hey if they can do it, so can we"

Now I have no problem with what each and everyone of you doing what you want to in your own time, go ahead and hack and cheat to your hearts content, but when it spreads on to other people, thats where the problem starts

DX has in game rules, which means, if the rules are "no augs" they should always be "no augs" the moment people are influenced to break the rules, two things happen to the rest of the community

one side decides "if you cant beat em, join em" the other side decides that there is little point

If this carries on DX as a game will be no more, since some members of A have decided to cash in on the h4x and go public, i would say its now alpha's responsibility to clean it up

Wasn't Alpha sposed to be supportive of DX until either the members die, or the game dies?

As Ben said, I don't care if it's in your own server, but i've seen it in AAGP and in FGS. Why can't they leave well enough alone? It was fine before, why ruin things?

It would be nice to just simply stop, hopefully it can be forgotten about if done quickly.

Not possible, we can only have 1 aug per slot, so, vision instead of aqualung? No, we do have a part where we can have vision together with cloak, but that is one of the exceptions, just like targeting, but the rest --> Not possible. Explanation of CaranD'Ache will come.

Things got blown out of proportion because of one person, Lionheart, and its now like this, your either part of the solution of part of the problem, all the guys who have devoloped the hacking and gone a bit public with them, stop being part of the problem

that haxing issue is one thing.. on the other side we're working hard to avert that ppl use that security holes
it's not easy since client checking code can always get hacked to break it

the solution is either some kind of checksum (that required to introduce dll files)
or we make some mod that is coded in this way that it's very hard to find a point where you can hack the package in this way to reach the "goal" of breaking the security

Explanation of CaranD'Ache will come.

I doubt there's a need in a huge explanation, it's all very simple and to make it clear i'll tell you everything as it is.

Yes, [A] has made a hack which bypasses all the protections like MTL and MiniMTL. We took alias CaranD'Ache which is basicly a Russian word that only looks like a French name and titles (Mr/Sr/Mrs/Ld and so on) to test the hack. But the alias had appeared long before these events, so don't think that every game we played with the alias went with cheats.
The final aims of the "project" were a) to explore how do people get the game hacked b) to find a way to avoid this type of cheating.

No matter if this topic appeared or not, we'd have stopped using the hack by today, yes, we've planned to do that. Why did we play with it? We had to test it with people and with pings and with different types of protection. I'm really sorry if we ruined someone's game, but we were doing this quite rarely during last 2-3 days.

By the way, yesterday, after all the tests, i came to GamesMajor to have a plain zero-aug game without any hacks and i managed to get a quite good score and i got accused in cheating again. No, i was not. It's easy to recognise a cheater.

This hack is completely expandable: it can be an aimbot or an aug hack, or a something else. It works on any server.

Was it hard to make it?, =BIA=Controlled asks. Yes, it was hard to make it.

Is it possible to stop it?, you ask. Yes it is. Install QValidate on the server and you won't have any problems with cheating again. It's impossible to hack this mod as far as I remember. But theres a problem (the main reason why noone uses it at the moment), it lies in additional .dll's it uses (Deus Ex can download only packages like .u, .uax, .utx, .dx and so on, but not .dll libraries) and difficulty of installation as on player, as on server sides. We're thinking about this problem and I think we'll solve it some day. I have ideas.

Also, I'd add that MiniMTL is a very strong obstacle for a cheater. Yes, it's possible to hack it, but it's hard, really hard, thanks to TRM and the MTL team. I doubt that there is another person in the community who can repeat this again (and we're not giving this mod to anyone, read below). I recommend you to install the latest version of this patch on your server.

GODDARD's GamesMajor has it and doubtfully you'll see someone cheating in this way on it in sooner future. We haven't hacked MiniMTL 1.4 (and i doubt LionHeart did) and we're not going to.

You may now hush. We're not going to use the hack on the public servers anymore. We did what we wanted to do and now we're developing our own protection mods. It is a serious security flaw, but
a. it's completely fixable
b. it's very hard to abuse

How does it feel to play with an aimbot? The crosshair snaps to your target's head. If the aimbotter has a higher than 100 ping, it becomes harder to kill with aimbot than with a hand. It cannot hit an opponent who jumps and crouches a lot. Screen lags, and after playing an hour with it you'll have a strong feeling of a qualm.

I'm sure there are people here who are interested to have this hack. You can have this hack for a price of 1 mln Brittish pounds (£1'000'000.00). But believe me or not, it's fun to use it only for like 30 minutes, and after that it becomes boring. Now i've lost all the interest in playing with it. Do not forget that most of us play for a PROCESS but not for a SCORE.

Inspite of what you the rest say, I won't blame anyone and i don't blame myself for it... I'd even thank both my mates, who've put mammoth work in it and I really hope we will manage to fix it. With the "project" we've got a lot of experience about the "cheating scene" ((c) pwned.nl) in Deus Ex and it's always easier to fight with what you know what are you fighting with

I just found out i changed into an anti-hack/cheat someone, usually I didn't bother myself much about people who were cheating/hacking or whatever, but the day I made that post and the day before I had like 4 messed up games in a row, which made me change into that. (Yeah, thats a drastic change =\)

Not everyone is finding reasons to quit DX, Though, to be honest, I actually was thinking about it a month ago, but that FGS server with Altifre sure made deus ex a bit less monotone, and just have another server to play in, before that server, I just used to play in AAGP and Rhino's.

So I'm very sorry Nobody, this guy, whoever he is, still will be playing dx, try to live with it.

I don't blaim anything on Zero Augmentation conditions. The fact is that this game was made with Augmentations in mind, I my self used to be a 0 aug player since it was easier to get into and get kills.
