And the americans dont have a disadvantage on the euro server end? One of the reasons why I liked this idea of a tournament because it was played on BOTH sides of the ocean in BOTH augs and nonaugs.

This would be the first absolutely representative tournament I have seen. I dont think people should be able to sign up "just for augs" and "just for nonaugs". It's both. It really is all in good fun, so dont sweat the augs. Hopefully it will get some of you hooked because it is soo fun.

Each team plays four maps, 2 in augs american and 2 in nonaugs European. The winner of the most maps advances to the next round. If there is a tie, they either play a single map in augs european or nonaugs American.

This is the way I see it playing out. We have Team A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H...
A v H wins 3 maps to 1, and go on to advance to the next round
A v C wins all 4 maps, and goes on to advance
A v D win 2 maps a peice, then they fight on a nonaug american server and A wins.

A wins the tourney.

if 0auggers a willing to play augs, even tho we will probably lose, then auggers should have the ability to play 0augs

also, 0augs is sorta a step down from augs, right? so it will be like a normal game without speed/cloak/ballistics etc

btw, in the setting of the matches

i feel that to make it fairer and give weaker teams a chance, the weaker selections should be given a game against each toehr in the lower rounds

therefore they wil not be all put out by strong 1337 teams, making it an all 1337 tournament

at least give us weaker opponents a chance to pass the 1st round

choose carefully tho, we dont want two main contenders batteling it out in the 1st round

On one hand, an Augger not playing Zero-Augs, even for a few games, is silly, because as AD said, No-Augs is sort of a step down.

On the other hand, while a No-Augger not playing Augs is more understandable, it is MORE lame imo because Augs are the original way DX is played. (I am not gonna debate that....both gametypes are fun). And I see most No-Auggers are willing to give it a chance (which makes the Tournament a success already in my eyes).



As far as selecting teams, it would be hard to determine who the best teams are without hurting anyone's feelings or starting some sort of flamewar.

If we could get this running good and maybe have it organised for every few months...swap the teams around a bit...then dx will be soo much more fun and people will be more active
This may also encourage non-aug players to start playing augs

It's very hard to start playing augs imo...unless you get a few pointers and help with setting up a few simple binds
If you want help i'm more than happy to help...my love for dx increased by 10 times when i started playing augs ( i still love non-aug though )

I know certain teams have a lot more people to choose from but...

I never got augs training i just copied someones user.ini and tried to figure it all out myself (still trying)...

I think, if we are having more of these tournys this one is like a trial. Either we find/make a script that adds teams at random to the ladder OR we all decide which teams should be selected against which other teams.

THen, after a couple of tournys we could creat seeding ranks etc.

And have a permanent board with each teams position. Providing the team stays the same constantly...

I toook this from the thread in DCSB forums. This was in a response that we hold to seperate tourneys;

the two reasons I really liked it is because it would force nonauggers to play augs, and some of them, god willin, would like it and start playing it. The more people who play both gametypes, the better.

I also liked it because the tournament would be entirely universal. Both game types, both continents. The way I see it shaping up, I see one continent, and a tournament for each gametype.

If I want to find out who the best team of auggers is, I will go ahead and watch the [3] v [I] match. If I want to find out the best team non-auggers, I am gonna go ahead and look around me in my clan.

to clarify "the way I see" meaning the way I see things happening NOW, not the way I WANT to see things happening. What I would like to see is 8-16 teams. Each with 4 people. Each team plays another in 4 games, 2 aug, 2 non aug. the winner advances.

unfortunately, this means the teams who have some auggers in them will have eliminated each other early, leaving the winner of those matches to play on of the less augging teams.

However, I understand this point of view, and I think there is a solution.

Olympic wrestling also has a 3rd place match. Would it be fair to have the two teams who lost the match before the Final (so the semifinal) play a match against each other, and the winner of that match is declared 3rd place? That way some teams will have a bit more of a chance.

So ABCD are the last four teams. A defeats C and B defeats D. A and C go on to play for the championship. C and D play for 3rd place.
